Company: Richweb · Program: NEAT Rack Apprenticeship
Type: Paid Internship · Duration: Summer 2026 (~10–12 weeks)
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate
Location: Ashland, Virginia · In-Office
NEAT Rack is Richweb's structured network engineering apprenticeship. Interns work through a hands-on lab curriculum using the same production-grade hardware and software that Richweb engineers use on real customer networks every day. By the end of the summer, participants have built, configured, and troubleshot network infrastructure that most engineers only encounter in job descriptions.
This isn't a shadowing program - you'll be at a workbench with a console cable, configuring Juniper switches from scratch, building routing topologies, and verifying it all with packet captures. Senior engineers are present and engaged throughout.
Company: Richweb · Department: Enterprise Network Engineering
Salary: $145,000 – $170,000
Benefits: Health Insurance, Retirement Plan, Unlimited PTO (3 weeks encouraged)
Location: Richmond, Virginia · In-Office
The Principal Enterprise Network Engineer leads Richweb's Enterprise Network Engineering team, serving as both the technical authority and the day-to-day technical leader for enterprise networking. This role balances hands-on engineering, architectural oversight, and team leadership in a fast-moving production environment. This role will report to the Richweb CTO.
On a typical day, this role may include building network designs, assisting engineers with complex troubleshooting or outages, leading change reviews, and hands-on configuration or validation for high-impact work. The role regularly participates in deep technical escalations, guides engineers through root-cause analysis, and ensures solutions are operationally sound and well documented.
The position is responsible for owning enterprise network architecture and ensuring operational success post deployment.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys staying close to the technology while shaping how enterprise networking is designed, operated, and supported across the organization.
NEAT Rack is Richweb's structured entry program for early-career engineers, and the starting point for students looking to break into the field. Participants work directly alongside senior staff on real customer infrastructure - networks, servers, cloud, and managed services. It's a deliberate, mentored path from motivated newcomer to reliable engineer, and it's the foundation of how Richweb has built its team for years.
