Richweb understands that standard off-the-shelf software applications
cannot always meet your organization’s business needs.
Richweb can extend your existing web applications or create customized
web applications that meet your organizations' needs and budgets.
We want you to be able to utilize the systems and software you have
already purchased and, if possible, we build our applications to
integrate into your existing systems, both web-based and non-web
based.
Richweb develops its server/database back end applications on Intel/AMD
based Linux and BSD OS platforms which provide excellent combinations
of performance, security and maintainability, which translates into
excellent uptimes and cost savings for our customers. Richweb uses
primary: Debian Gnu Linux 3.1 (sarge), Red Hat ES3, and Suse Linux
9.x.
Richweb runs the well tested, secure, industry leading Apache web
server software (version 1) with mod_perl 1 and php4. Most of our
software is written in perl, though we do support php for clients
that need to integrate with existing php based systems.
Richweb utilizes a mixture of relational database software to provide
the best set of options for our clients growing data storage and
management needs:
Compact, very fast, secure, runs well on linux or windows; gives
our customers choice of Linux or MS Windows as the database server
and Firebird itself is a very nice drop in replacement for expensive
and slow performing MSSQL servers. Firebird is also a nice replacement
for Oracle built applications that do not need the advanced (though
expensive) clustering features Oracle provides as an industry leader.
Excellent feature set, closest feature set of the Open Source RBDMS
engines to IBM DB2 and Oracle. Not as compact as Firebird, not as
well tested on win32 server platforms. Good choice for very large
data sets.
For larger web applications, Richweb prefers to use Postgres or Firebird for all application
development due to MySQL's lack of established support for database
features that help guaranteed data integrity such as views, stored
procedures, foreign keys, transactions, etc. We suggest MySQL 5
with InnoDB storage engine when customers are currently using MySQL
and want to stick with that technology.
PostgreSQL is probably the better choice for MySQL users that need
to switch if php is the language of choice for your application.
